How Installation Works

Installing PowerDeck takes three steps: buy a licence, run the installer, enter your activation code.

1. Get an activation code

When you purchase a PowerDeck licence you receive a short activation code. If an installer set up your system, they provide the code for you.

2. Run the installer

On your supported hardware (Raspberry Pi, mini-PC, or NAS — see Hardware Requirements), run the PowerDeck install command from our website. The installer:

  • Downloads and starts the PowerDeck software in containers
  • Connects securely to our service — no port forwarding required; all connections are outbound-only, so it works behind any router, including Starlink and mobile broadband
  • Asks for your activation code to license the system

3. Configure your devices

Once running, open the local dashboard in your browser. PowerDeck discovers supported devices on your network and walks you through connecting your inverter data source and smart plugs.

What if something goes wrong?

  • The dashboard includes a built-in support assistant that can diagnose common problems.
  • You can reach the team through the community or via Getting Help.

Installer deployments

Installers use the same flow at each client site — one activation code per site, issued from the Installer Hub. See Licensing for the installer tier.
